Abdominoplasty, known more commonly as a tummy tuck, is a major surgical procedure to remove excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen and to tighten the muscles of the abdominal wall. The aim for a tummy tuck is to produce a tighter, flatter stomach and it may partially reduce the appearance of stretch marks. Abdominoplasty can dramatically reduce the appearance of a protruding abdomen.
The best candidates for abdominoplasty are men or women who are in relatively good shape but are bothered by a large fat deposit that won't respond to diet or exercise
During an abdominoplasty, our surgeon will make a horizontal incision in the lower abdomen that generally follows the bikini line so that scarring is hidden with underwear or swim clothing. A second incision is made to free the navel from surrounding tissue.
Abdominoplasty is performed under general anaesthetic. One small drainage tube will be inserted to drain excess fluid. There will be no stitches to be removed and abdominal supporting clothes are required for 3 weeks.
You may stay at the clinic for overnight.
